Student Seminars

The facilitator had a great ability to engage and challenge pupils. From just a one hour session, the pupils came away with renewed enthusiasm and concrete, real objectives which they could now move forward with in their lives. He certainly helped create a more positive environment within the class group.
— Jerry Sheehan, School Chaplain, Colaiste Iognáid, Galway

The elements of the retreat really worked well and spoke to students at their level. An overall brilliant day - showed students how unique and special they are.
— Diane Browne, Chaplain, Coláiste Mhuire, Askeaton, Co. Limerick

Parent Talks

Patrick Boland recently presented an information evening in Coláiste Mhuire for parents based on the theme “how to communicate with teenagers”. I would recommend this talk to both teachers and parents. It was delivered in a dynamic fashion and the content was definitely thought provoking. The question and answer session after the presentation allowed parents to actively participate. We received very positive feedback from parents and we eagerly await next year’s presentation.
— Aoibheann Ní Bhriain, Príomhoide Tánaisteach (Deputy Principal), Choláiste Mhuire

Staff Seminars

The Leadership 20/20 course was a great opportunity to take time and reflect on one’s own leadership that is almost impossible during a normal working week. I enjoyed hearing about the other participants’ experiences and that so many of the activities were both thought provoking and interactive. The day went by really quickly too, so a great sign of a good learning experience.
— Margaret O'Donoghue, Principal, Loreto High School.
It was an inspirational and uplifting day that has given me a lot of food for thought for not only my own role but for education in general. There are so many different models of leadership and so many inspirational leaders working in all different kinds of contexts. The bringing together of these worlds seems to me to be a logical move, in a world of such inter connectivity. As educators we often invest our time and energy in developing out students, without perhaps giving enough thought to how our own development ultimately benefits all of the students in our care. The day left me energised by the potential that exists for schools and educators.
— Lesley Byrne, Deputy Principal, Belvedere College S.J.
The day was very enjoyable and informative. There was a very relaxed atmosphere created from the start of the day which allowed people to share openly and honestly. I would highly recommend any course organised by Conexus. Thank you.
— Sheila Drum, Principal, Dominican College Sion Hill.

Guidance Counselling

Our appointment with [our guidance counsellor] was extremely worthwhile and I would highly recommend him. The entry process into third level education is difficult to negotiate and to have expert help with good contacts makes such a difference. [Our guidance counsellor] contacted the colleges for the information we needed and was most professional and informative, furnishing us with a comprehensive list of all the necessary information. His advice on study skills to our son produced an energised and focused teenager with an appetite to achieve and the knowledge to best use his time and skills.
— Karen, parent of 6th year student

Possibly the most crucial thing in my leaving certificate education was my appointment with [my guidance counsellor] . He is an expert in study skills and I think he is one of the very few teachers who will tell you and more importantly, show you that study can be fun. He gives you a clear perspective on school life and teaches helpful study planning. If you want to do as well as you can, he is undoubtedly the person to talk to.
— Tadhg, Age 17, Leaving Certificate student
